Trade Hourly Rate Finder
Salary sites say an electrician makes $38 an hour. That is a wage. A one-van shop that bills $38 an hour goes broke. Put in your real numbers and get the rate your shop actually needs.
Want this as a spreadsheet, plus 10 flat-rate examples for your trade?
The spreadsheet version keeps your numbers, and the examples show what a receptacle, a service call or a panel job should cost at your rate. No trial, no sales calls, unsubscribe any time.
How the math works
Overhead plus your pay (with tax and benefits) is what a year costs. Divide by the hours you can actually bill - not the hours you work - and you have your true hourly cost. Bill under it and you are paying to work. Add the margin you want and round up: that is your shop rate. It is the same engine inside our Flat-Rate Price Book Builder, which turns the rate into a 75-task price book.
